The Waitlist April 2018: Things to do in Louisville this month

We're starting something new!

Each month, we'll be highlighting some pregnancy friendly events going on in Louisville and Southern Indiana (and by pregnancy friendly, we basically mean nothing that will remind you of how much you miss wine, beer, and bourbon).

Those final months of pregnancy are tough. You're tired, ready to meet your baby, and sick of hearing "haven't you had that baby yet?!".

Look at these community events as an opportunity to get out, get distracted, and enjoy a date night or some personal time before baby arrives.

It's pretty hard to stay bored in Louisville come spring, as long as you know where to look! With April comes (hopefully... please, for the love of God...) warm weather and the Kentucky Derby Festival. There's no way we could list EVERY. SINGLE. amazing part of the Kentucky Derby festival, but we've curated a few that sound fun with a baby on board.

Friday, April 6th: Louisville Bats Opening Night

Baseball is back! Enjoy America's favorite past time (which is eating concession stand food, right?) with fireworks at the conclusion of the game.

Saturday, April 7th:  Postpartum Health: Information on Placenta Encapsulation

Shameless plug: our owner and resident Postpartum Placenta Specialist September will be talking about Placenta Encapsulation at Rainbow Blossom's Springhurst Wellness Center. Come get your questions answered about this modern approach to an age old practice. Follow the link to pre-register and receive 10% off any of our Placenta Encapsulation packages.

Saturday, April 14th: Revival Vintage Market

So be warned, this event does take place at Gravely Brewing Co. (which you 100% have got to try after baby is on the outside if you're a craft beer fan). But! There's plenty to do that doesn't involve brews. Namely, checking out cool vintage and handmade products. You never know, you may find something else for the nursery!

Saturday, April 14th- Sunday, April 15th: Louisville Taco Festival

Taco. Festival. Need I say more? There will be tons of local restaurants with tacos to sample. Plus, maybe a little extra hot sauce will kickstart labor?

Saturday, April 21st: Thunder Over Louisville

No list of April events in Louisville would be complete without Thunder. It is, after all, one of the largest airshows and firework displays in the country and truly kicks off Derby season.

We've specifically linked to Thunder at Slugger Field. Yes, another baseball game. But even if you aren't a baseball fan, hear us out:

Real bathrooms. Reserved seats with a pretty much guaranteed good view of the airshow and fire works. If that's not enough, the baseball game and the concert that follows at least gives you something to do all day, and your wristband allows you to come and go from the stadium as you please.

Thursday, April 26th- Saturday, April 28th: BalloonFest

One of the best parts of the Kentucky Derby Festival, by far! (Other than, y'know, Thunder, Oaks, and Derby).

If you've never been, now's the time (although this is a fun event for babies and toddlers, too, so there's always next year). There are few events spanning the weekend, including the Great Balloon Glow and an actual Hot Air Balloon Race!

Friday April 27th: Neigh-Maste on the Waterfront

You don't typically want to add anything new to your workout routine during pregnancy, especially this late in the game. But if you've already been doing some prenatal yoga, this is a fun afternoon event to enjoy the spring weather!

502 Power Yoga, Soul Cleanse Yoga, and Buti Yoga are co-hosting this Vinyasa for all levels class on the Waterfront, and since it's within the Kentucky Derby Fest-A-Ville, food and drinks are right there for a quick lunch afterward.

April 30th: HappyTail Hour

Enjoy some quality time with your fur baby before your human baby joins the fam. Sure, there are cocktails to avoid, but your pup will stay sober with you ;) Enjoy the food from the Fest-A-Ville ChowWagon, and live music!
